Peka‑Pro DL (Dual Layer FBE Coating)

About

Dual‑layer Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) coating system delivering enhanced corrosion protection, cathodic disbondment resistance, and superior mechanical durability for oil, gas, and water pipelines.

More info from this product

Peka‑Pro DL from Peka Chemie is a high‑performance dual‑layer FBE system engineered to outperform single‑layer coatings in both corrosion and mechanical protection. In this system, two layers of fusion‑bonded epoxy are applied sequentially to steel pipelines, offering a combined defense against cathodic disbondment, corrosion, impact damage, and mechanical abrasion during transportation, installation, and operation.

Introduced in 1999 as a cost‑effective alternative to multi‑layer systems for directional drilling applications, Peka‑Pro DL has proven reliability in harsh environments and demanding pipeline projects.

Key Advantages

  • Outstanding corrosion and cathodic disbondment resistance
  • High mechanical strength and abrasion resistance during handling and installation
  • Enhanced performance compared to single‑layer FBE, especially in directional drilling
  • Meets CSA Z245.20‑22 System 2B requirements
  • Compatible with specialized topcoats (DL‑AR, DL‑AS, DL‑UF, DL‑UV) for project‑specific needs

Application Process

  1. Surface preparation: Near‑White Blast (SA 2½, ISO 11124‑3), profile 50–100 μm
  2. Preheat steel substrate to 210–240 °C
  3. Apply first FBE layer (400 ± 50 μm) for corrosion protection
  4. Apply second FBE layer (400 ± 50 μm) for enhanced mechanical protection
  5. Controlled cooling to stabilize coating

Technical Highlights

  • System Type: Dual‑layer fusion‑bonded epoxy
  • Layer Thickness: 2 × 400 ± 50 μm
  • Corrosion Resistance: Exceeds CSA Z245.20‑22 System 2B standards
  • Abrasion Resistance: Proven under handling, backfilling, and horizontal drilling loads

Actual performance depends on proper surface preparation, film continuity, and curing parameters.
