Bend test
Test standard: ASTM D522
This test is used to evaluate the elasticity of coatings. In this test, coated plates will be bent around a conical or cylindrical metal axis.
In the conical bend test, various bending diameters are continually tested but in the cylindrical bend test, various diameters are tested discontinuously. The results of the conical bend test are put down by way of recording the distance on the sample plate from the bottom of the cone (the apex) to the crack. Moreover, the coated plate is bent to 135-degree angle in a second around a conical axis.
The lowest diameter of bending without a visible crack is reported as degree of resistance to bending.
